May 2012

THYesterday Chris and I drove to Prescott to go to the Trader Joe’s there and to look at new tiles for our bathroom.  Unfortunately, when we got there the tile place had already closed (who closes at 1 on a Saturday?).  Since we had some time on our hands, we decided to visit a winery we had heard about in Chino Valley called Granite Greek Vineyards.

They were having a special event for Mother’s Day, and there were merchants and a band outside.  The winery itself was a series of small barns; it was very picturesque.

We even saw a peacock!

Behind me are the grape vines.

That old car was parked by one of the barns, and we just thought it would make a neat picture.

It was a neat little winery-especially considering it’s in the heart of Chino Valley, which mainly consists of farm land and old buildings. We’ll go back!

One of my favorite things about our home is the apple tree in our backyard.  We haven’t yielded many apples from it so far (only about a dozen per year), but it is so beautiful in the spring.

Notice the cat tent behind the tree?  They’ve been enjoying the nice weather, too. Oh, and those are the peaks in the background; if you step beyond the tree there’s a really great view.

Here are some closer views:

The trees are blooming everywhere right now.  There are a line of really beautiful trees with bright red blossoms down the street that I admire every day on my drive into work.  If I remember my camera I’ll take and post some photos soon.
